Remembering D-Day

On Tuesday, June 6th, 1944, nearly 160,000 American, British, and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, France, taking part in the largest amphibious landing in world history. An additional 195,700 troops on 5,000 naval vessels participated in what has gone down in history as perhaps the greatest fight for freedom the world has ever known. These brave soldiers fought fearlessly against daunting odds. Many lost their lives, or survived carrying lasting reminders of the struggle for the rest of their lives.

Tomorrow, on the anniversary of this historic day, remember to take a moment to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought – and continue to fight – so that we can be free. These brave men and women deserve our lasting respect and admiration for all they have given in service of their country.
